To Be Free

I once held a flower in my hand,So intricate its beauty - hours on end I spent. As it shone, I bloomed with it,As it moved, I danced with it,When it wilted, I shrank with it.

The more I engaged,The more entangled I became. How could I let it go,When I had mistaken myself for it?

The more I longed, the more it slipped away.So I opened my palm - yet it lingered,Caught between my fingers.

When I saw beauty living in its fading,It set me free!
